My name is wayne, and i am a dieseljunkie... I just got the truck in my signature. very happy with it! I came into the PSD from a cummins. In all honesty the cummins is a great machine but its wrapped in a Dodge, so well you know! Waste of a good powerplant! Anyway, i picked my new toy up lastnight and on the way home in top gear i put it into #4 pos on the chip and gave her hell! 60- 90 mph was mind boggling fast, but when i got to 90 or so the check engine light came on.... truck runs great still , the pyro went to just about 1250-1300(pre turbo) i let off, pulled over, let it spool down for about 5 mins and shut it off. it fired right back up and the light was off. i have not since been to get it checked or has it come back on. does this happen sometimes? I am sure with the chip some things get out of perameter sometimes and possibly fool the ECU. I will get it checked monday. Any ideas?? Still runs great, with out incident. I was on another forum and they mentioned overboosting. With my old cummins you didnt have to look so much at the boost level as it never got out of hand(remember non electronic mechanical pump), i always looked more closly at the EGT as i was doing out of habit last night. my question is, is it possible i did any damage? or would it have made its self apparent at the time? I was reading about stretched head bolts, blown gaskets and grenaded turbos.Got me worrying... I know nothing is wrong at this time, i guess my question is are these things that will happen right then or happen over repeated abuse? I will prob upgrade to a Ball Bearing turbo, should i do a head gasket job on it as well. it has 160k miles on it.
one more question for this post. when these head gaskets usually blow do they go between cylinders or into the waterjacket?

i must seem paranoid but the engine in this truck is worth more than 90% of the vehicles i have ever owned.
