Ok I know this is subjective buy kinda looking for some people with experience with these sizes.

I am in need of new tires on my 02 F-250 4x4. Think I am going to go with the Toyo Open Country AT2. Driving is about 95% Hwy. Mixed backroads/hwy. Some light towing ~5-7K and farm/field roads

Stock size for my truck is 265/75/16. When I bought it it had brand new 285/75/16 on it.

The 285 I think will look better, but what about performance differences. I know they are only a little over an inch taller than the 265. will that make much of a difference in power/torque or mpg? How about braking distance?

My truck has a 3.73 axle in it if that helps.

Trying to decide whether to go back to stock 265 with more power/torque or stay with the 285

Thanks

Tires

Hey there.
I have an F250 I use to pull 6500-7000lb trailer. My husband decided to go with 285's. The stock tires seemed a bit small, and the 285 had the best reviews for our truck size.
We have a very smooth, quiet ride with our current size tires. Turning is a breeze(for a truck). We get about 17-18mpg best(not towing, straight road), and about 14-16 worst(lots of lights, traffic).
