Hi to all, I just joinged this forum and think you all are great! I tried the search for my question so I wouldn't look like a stupid newbie but couldn't find an answer. I just purchases a 93 F250 7.3 idi 4x4 with 235/85/16 tires but can't seem to find out what the stock rim size is. I heard that 33x12.5 tires would fit on this truck but the rims look really narrow. Does anyone know if I could fit 285/75/16 tires on this truck with stock wheels? If not what is the widest I could go?

Hey *******, Welcome to the site. There's no stupid questions here. I have a '94 F250 and the stock sizes are 235/85/16-16X7 I have 265/75/16s on there now. I can't see why 285s won't fit. Tim

Thanks for the info. If my research is correct these have a 8 on 6.5 pattern and the new trucks have 8 on 170 mm pattern. Is there any other newer vehicle with chrome wheels that would fit my truck to dress it up some without paying a fortune?

Look on you door sticker, it will tell you the rim width that originally came on the truck. It will either be 16 x 6 or 16 x 7. Which isn't to say that the original rims are still on it. Ford rims usually have the size stamped on the wheels.

Go to any tire manufacturers website, they have tire fitment guides that list the recommended rim width for each tire size. You can fit almost any tire to any rim width, but some will cause wear and/or safety issues.

Hi and welcome!
I posted a thread on rims a couple of weeks ago. titled did I get sucked in. I don't know how to put the link to it here for you, In it I detailed my recent experience of exchanging my stock steel rims to the alloy OEM wheels using an alcoa 8 lug 6.5 from a 2005 Ford E series van. They haven't changed to the 8x170 pattern of the 99 and newer F series trucks.

Dodge OEM alloy rims will also work. Chevy will not cause the hub diameter is larger on our fords.

Good Luck!
btw I run 16 R 85 235 tires on the 16x7 rims. I think 285's would be to wide for the stock rim. Check with the manufacturer specs to be sure.
