Do you guys think that I am crazy if I trade my 2000 F350 - 7.3 on a 2007 - 6.0 Diesel. I love my truck, but it has close to 200,000 miles on it and if I keep it I will probably need to spend a few dollars on it like front hubs, bearings, water pump, brakes and the like soon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

No, you've kept your truck for much longer than the average bear keeps one. 7 years and 200,000 miles is enough. You deserve a new one, so go get it.

But this time - since you're in no particular hurry - special order the pickup and get exactly what you think you want. Then dream about it and think about it for the 6 to 8 weeks it will take to get it to your dealer.

I wish I could join you, but my vehicle buying budget is about zero right now. I'm 67 now and retired with too-little income for making car/truck payments, so I'll probably never again be able to afford a new vehicle to replace either my pickup or my wife's car. So I hope my Sierra Blanca holds on until around 400,000 miles. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I just returned from one of the area dealerships to look at their inventory and to see what they were willing to negotiate. Most everyone is starting at about $200.00 above dealer invoice. But for the first time today I really had a chance to look under the hood of the 6.0 and get a good look at the engine. You can’t even see the engine it has so much stuff on top and around it. It must be a nightmare to work on one of those engines!

The biggest concern about jumping to the 2007 is not that it has a 6.0L in it, but rather the complicated emmission systems that "true" 2007's and later will have. Notcie the ULSD (Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel) stickers on pumps lately? starting 2007 stricter emmissions will be imposed on diesel vehicles, causing more equipment, higher prices, and more problems. From what I have heard from a Ford Repair manager replacing this stuff will make catlytic convertor problems of the 70's look like nothing. My suggestion: If you really want a new truck get an 06 (pre new equipment), or a low mileage 7.3L. But what do I know I was born in Conroe! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Diesel_Rider, I thought the 2007's that are currently available with the 6.0L fall under the current epa regulations, thus don't have all of the extra emissions stuff. I thought that the 2008's available starting next January would fall under the new regs. Did I miss something?

No you are absolutely right. What I meant by "true" 2007's were those made to be sold after January 1st 2007.
