Lots of guys use filtered motor oil and rave about it but a small diesel mechanic who specializes in the pickup sized diesels says he's found premature injector tip erosion and injection pump wear in engines running on used oil. As a heavy diesel mechanic I'm inclined to agree with him, makes sense, it will never go in my tanks. But whatever turns you on.

IMHO worse yet. As a long time helpful poster here said when a guy with a fuel system problem finally stated he uses WVO, "Oops, all bets are off". Can't speak for others, but if a WVO guy came in any shop I've ever worked in with a fuel problem he'd be told by the shop foreman to try elsewhere or first produce a financial statement before anyone raised his hood. Diagnosis time doesn't come free and there could be a lot of it on systems that have had all manner of crap run through them.

The DB-2 is a poor match for WVO because it is cooled only by fuel, and you have to heat the fuel for viscosity. The steel tanks found stock on IDIs are a poor match for WVO because it will interact with the lining.

I still think that if you're seeing injector (or other) wear with WMO it means you've got inadequate filtering. That, however, is probably more common than not...

With that said, I won't put recycled motor oil in my crankcase. If it's so great, why are they mixing it 50/50 with virgin oil? pfft.
