I know that this has probably been asked before here a million times and I will apoligize beforehand for doing it again.

I posted this question on another forum before I found this one. The reason that I am posting here is because it seems that the members here have more knowledge. Just my opinion.

I just bought my first F350 SD about three weeks ago. I installed the superchips programmer. Everything was fine until yesterday when I was on a 200 mi trip and I made a stop and then started again and I noticed the the 1-2 shift was sloppy and it actually slipped going into 3rd. I stopped and checked the fluid and everything was ok. Started again and shifted great. It did this a few more times during the day. It seems, to do it when warm, but not every time.

The truck has a factory trans that was put in about 8 months ago.

I was thinking about the sonnex valve kit and a torque converter?

What do you guys think?

You need to add what year,srw/drw,4WD,etc, and any other mods you have done to your truck for us to get a better idea what you are dealing with. The Sonnax kit will help a lot. When the tranny was replaced did they replace the TC?
My transmission when hot will act similar to yours. If allowed to cool off everything is OK. Original transmission with 150,000 and only the TC and Sonnax done to it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
The 2001 F350 has drw, 2wd w/superchips programmer, no other mods
I don't know if the converter was replaced or not.
Thanks again for the help.

dmorrow- What converter did you use? How much?

Jody, I replaced mine when it started rattling and before it did any damage with a ATC heavy duty double disk model from a local transmission supply company. It is the one used by Greatstates commercial fleet rebuilders. The difference was great and pulls better than new.
You will see a lot of discussion on this board about Suncoast, Monsterbox and BTS as the only way to go. If I had the extra money I would do this too. When it comes time to replace I will have to decide if the age of the truck warrants it.
Regarding your problem. Do you have the OE small transmission cooler(probably)? If so you will want to add a Tru Cool 4520(I think this is the right number but you will want to check) this will lower temps drastically.
Was it stop and go conditions? If so heavy loads will overheat the fluid in a very short time. That was the problem with mine the other day. Stop and let the engine idle and it will cool the fluid off if you experience this condition.
Another thing affecting the towing can be the computer code your truck has. Some are better for towing than others.
Was your Superchip set on tow? If not that can be the problem.
PM me if you need more help.
