Thanks in advance for the help and advice, and, if this is in the wrong forum please move it for me.

My son in law is looking for a truck and found this one. I know from RV forums, I have a read a lot about the different Ford diesel motors that some years had issues. Looks like a well taken care of truck, what do you all think about this particular model and what are some questions he needs to ask about it.

With these trucks it is all about the maintenance history. See if you can get an Oasis report on it pulled by a Ford Dealer that shows what warranty work was done on it, then see what receipts and other proof the owner has of regular maintenance, repairs and upgrades.

This, and...

What he said. Also, you can have it checked by a mechanic with a scangauge that can look at the real numbers the factory gauges don't show. Look at the oil and coolant temps, the difference between the two, the FICM power draw, any stored fault codes, make sure the truck codes weren't just reset (to hide CEL), etc...

If it passes the maintenance records check and it passes the looks good right now check, it is probably a decent deal. At least, you will have done your due diligence to make that call.
