No grease points on the 05

Finally bought my first diesel. Found these pages by accident and I have been able to glean a lot of very useful knowledge. I would like to thank all the posters who contribute.

Since I had a few thousand on the truck already I went out and bought a fresh tube of synthetic grease. After locking and loading I crawled under the truck and was surprised to see that there are no grease points. There seems to be some metal caps where they normally would be. Can I put some in? How long will those joints last without grease? Am I missing something ?

Dude,
I feel your pain...

I found out when my 98 Expedition had Upper & Lower Ball Joint Failure
at 79,000 miles on it!

Ford has decided that general Lube Points only add to the cost of thier vehicles and call their "Permanently Sealed" joints more than sufficiant to last the life of the vehicle! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Can anyone say: Bulls%$t? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

To answer your question, I believe that someone figured out a way to install Zirc Fittings without drilling into the ball joint to allow
grease to be introduced but then found that there was no room inside
the "New & Improved" design to hold the grease! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Good Luck fella!
