If the air is directed to the defroster only then you have a low/no vacuum problem... could be just a bad hose connection outside by the heater plenum or under the dash too.

Did you install the right one...... Ford or IH only. Do the fan test on my photo link too, if the clutch fan is stuck on it will cool the engine and not heat up.tstat works brand new
Have you ever pulled the fan out to clean the plenum of leaves etc.
