Hello all,

I'm posting this for somebody else, so please bare with me. Yesterday our buddy's truck (2004 F-350 6.0) suddenly lost a substantial amount of power, had trouble building boost, had no throttle response, and a loss of RPMs. Has anybody experienced this? Any ideas what would cause it?

FYI: His truck had the same symptoms last year so he took it to the dealership and they replaced the wiring harness under warranty.

Any help would be appreciated.

-Thx

Possibly a air charge hose came off. Check all the connections on the air cooler and tubing.
Also possibly the turbo wheel let loose and went down the down pipe.

SC -- Here are a few easy things to check. Check the CAC boots/connections between the turbo and intercooler and intercooler and intake. If all are ok, then have him unplug the EGR valve with the key in the off position. Try running the truck without the EGR and see if the problem disappears. If so, the EGR should be cleaned and/or replaced. Remember that operating the vehicle without the EGR valve connected is a violation of federal law.

Smoke could be possible; he didn't mention it. The truck has a Volant intake and a 4" muffler deleted exhaust; no other mods.

If its not boosting, you'll likely see black smoke.

If there is a problem with the turbo, get the Volant off it as soon as possible and put the stock filter back on. The use of the Volant will be grounds for a warranty denial if anything is wrong with the turbo.

I don't know how the Volant works, but what happened to the MAF when he put it on?

Also - does this truck sit for extended periods? The turbos have a hard time with dis-use, and if its sat for any length of time that could be a contribution factor.
