I get allot of questions on just what to check when you get the ipr off the vehicle so you know if it is bad or not. In this video I go over what to look for in depth with an example of how a failure looks.

Makuloco, can you tell me why my 6.0 will build good pressure at the ICP and loose it in a instant. It also is showing no sync. Could it be a short ?, because it was a seldom thing until lately.
What kind of pressure upon cranking it will climb into the thousands in a few seconds? Sync and Ficm sync need to say yes upon cranking. What is the ipr%

The IPR is around 55% while cranking and then it just looses everything for an instant. And it also shows no sync. I can put a little diesel in the intake and it'll run like a champ until I kill it and it decides not to start.
Yeah sounds like you need to go after the sync issue before anything else, block rust pushing the cam sensor out was a known issue on these if you are in the salt belt or the truck was in the salt belt previous owner.

6.0 no start

Hi im new to the site and not sure how to work it yet, but was wondering if someone could point me In the right direction. I have 2006 6.0 powerstroke, I have done an stc fitting, egr delete, oil cooler, blue spring, ficm is about 1.5 yrs old, new batteries, 4 inch exhaust and a edge tuner but I have only been running on the 15 hp setting or none at all. Lately it has been cranking abnormally long when first starting in the morning, but once it gets warm it fires immediately. Yesterday I was coming home and I revved the engine once and it died but restarted, I did it again to see if it was just a glitch but it died and won't restart now. I have no codes, I unplugged icp to see if it will start and nothing. It cranks perfect, no real smoke out the tailpipe and the oil pressure gauge goes to normal when cranking, just wont start, was running great last few months but now this, any guesses on where to start looking??

I would check your FICM voltage first. Just because it is only 1.5 yrs old doesn't mean it isn't dead. Will your Edge tuner read it?

No my edge won't read the ipr, icp or ficm is there any code readers out there that test these? When I turn the key I can still here the injectors clicking.

A Scan Gauge 2 will read them.

You can also download an app for your phone that are great code readers and digital gauges. EngineLink for iPhone and Torque for Android. Both require an OBD to wifi or bluetooth adapter that you can pick up for ~$20 on Amazon.

Your edge should read FICM, IPR% and ICP. My CS has options for all 3. What Edge do you have?

Ficm was 48.5 at buzz test and while cranking, still no start, and my edge is just the evolution only monitors oil, coolant, tranny, baro, iat, engine load and egt

Imagine reviving a thread working on 10 years later and addressing a member who was last seen in 2016!

Anyways, do yourself a favor and get good monitoring equipment (FORScan) and a good OBDII to USB cable........
