Truck strated and ran fine this morning but died after 1 mile. I checked codes and got CPS and MAP codes.

Changed CPS w/old spare.

Started then died. Restarted and died again.

After sitting 5 min, start and die.

Now have code p1668, PCM-IDM communications error.

WTS light and glow plugs not working, but after five minutes or so they come back on, then it starts and dies soon after starting.

Do I need IDM? It's also pouring rain right now.

Still not running, but now I can turn the ingnition on and the WTS light flickers fast and relays clinking every where under hood. And just as soon as they settle down it will fire right up then die. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

you may be getting moisture in to the ECM, or you are having moisture/corrosion problems at the connections to the ECM. if that is the case, then you need to remove it and clean it up and try it again.

I just remove the IDM and the harness to the PCM and didn't find any moisture in the connectors. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Found the problem. Water has gotten into the PCM. I've read that water in the PCM will fry it. A mechanic told me the same thing.

Well I took the cover off and dried it out gently with a heat gun and everything is now ok.

I would advise everyone to check the two nuts that hold the PCM in the firewall once in a while. Mine had backed off and let water get by the seal. I got very lucky this time.

Can you give the details of your homemade bright box mod?

I have an 03 F150 and would like to keep the low beams on when I have the highs on... I would also like the fog lamps to come on with the headlights when I have them in automatic mode...
