Hey Gang,
Went to unlock my rig today and the key just turned in the lock. I went around to the other side and unlocked the passenger door to get in. The power locks worked just fine. Only problem is the lock don't work. It feels like when I turn it there is nothing hooked to it. It does NOT spin completely around it still stops where it is suppost to. So you guys who tear off your door panels all of the time working on stoping the constant squeeking let me know what I need to do. Is there a break down or diagram on the order the door panel comes off? When you get it off can you even get to the rod or do you have to skill saw part of the door off to get to where you need? Sorry for the large amount of questions. Thanks in advance for the assistance!!

I had an issue that sounds like this but mine wouldn't turn. What I found was that there is a spring in the mechanism that is pushed in when the key is installed. When you push on the key in the lock it releases the tumbler to turn. Mine was intermitantly working. After taking the panel off to replace the inside door latch mechanism when the handle broke I took the lock off and blew it out and lubricated it. It has been good for a year now. A bit of WD or PB blaster in the lock may help. It can't hurt. Run the key in and out a few times before turning to see if the spring frees itself. Just don't put too much stuff in the lock. It may drip out on the paint and make it messy.

There is nothing to sawzall. It is pretty straightforward to take the panel off. Just remove all of the screws and the connectors holding the power lock and window buttons. Pull the panel carefully out, it should pop off. Replacement clips can be found at Autozone if needed. The lock is fairly easy to get at. Just a screwdriver away from having it out. It can be tricky to re-install but just go slow and follow your senses.

Good luck
