Hey guys... so I have been doing a lot of reading and searching. I am going to work with ITP (is that where I find this magical Jody tune?) to get a performance package and am having a hard time between the Magnaflow and MBRP set up. Both have the 4" down pipe.. what I am worried about is cabin resonation. I have a 02 Crew cab 250 4x4 (70k miles). I just want it to be nice and mellow/quiet in the cab, or the wife and kid will be unhappy, and we cant have that!

Also, with the "overboost annihilator", would I be pushing my luck with unsafe amounts of boost in an otherwise stock block? I want more power, but I am not going to race it (ok, maybe a couple times at the light next to a ricer), I need this truck to make it through 200k miles before I can get away with looking at a new one.

Any feedback is appreciated.. and if any of you are in the San Diego area.. I would love to talk mods.. beers on me.

So with striaght pipe.. is it pushing annoying for the neighbors... I am a loud neighbor to begin with: 7.3 diesel in the morning, 302 w/ flowmaster 40s on the weekend and grinders, air compressor and metal work on nearly any day of the week.. I dont want to push my luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have the MBRP and in the cab it's not loud at all, alittle more than stock i guess, the rocket sceintist that had the truck before me did some kinda funky dual exhaust, but i am really considering the muffler delete as Sam mentioned cuz i wanted alittle more sound.About your overboost unless you're gettin on it all the time you should be good to go,just don't go over 25 lbs too much and you'll be fine. I put mine on at about 175,000 anf i have to problems just make sure you clean gunk off the computer or you won't make good contact,i made that mistake and it lost contact and it went into no start mode and that just sucked.

If they can deal with the 302 then they will welcome your new diesel sound,i used to have a 289 and now my neighbors like me again sorta,i helped my buddy put on his in my front driveway and i got him to fire it up right after we got the down pipe in and it wasn't that loud.

I personally didnt even bother putting on a full four inch, just did the muffler delete on the stock 3.5 system, and YEAH! SWEET sounding at WOT, stock sounding at Idle, and freed up a little more hp says the seat of my pants. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

At the very least, put on a Walker BTM and hear that turbo whistle. The EGT's dropped around 50* as well.

welcome to the site..

mbrp seems to be a favorite around here.
moto blue has had an active thread here just in the last few days..good fit good price .
magnaflow had a post that had some trouble with the install and cust service was bad..but they look nice though kinda $$

http://www.dp-tuner.com/73tuning.htm
has some good info on chips . in addition to
if you run a chip you have to (ok you really want) to have gauges.

you will want a new intake also..afe is a popular choice .

Hey Matt, welcome to the site! I'm in the SD area (east county), so if you want to hear a straight-piped truck (check my sig), send me a PM and we can hook up...and I like the COLD kind!

I'm running a 4" exhaust straight into a 5" stack. Sounds pretty good. Not too much "drone" in the cab...at least for me.

BTW, speaking of sig's, you might want to fill out yours so we'll know what you got.

I have the magnaflow and it is to quiet for me. I don't think that anyone would think that it was that loud. Sounds good when you have the foot in it!

My 4" Banks Monster uses a Magnaflow muffler, & is quieter than the MBRP. My MBRP muffler is in the quieter position too. They are both quality made units, I'd recommend either. The 5" is even deeper.

I updated the sig.. as you can see.. a bit of a blank slate with the PSD.

Calico5,.. thanks.. I will have to bring a 6'er over sometime to see some mods. There sure seems to be a lot of "DIY" stuff that makes sense.

I am leaning toward the MBRP w/muffler in quiet orientation, AFE stage 2 with the oil'less filter and a DP multi-position chip... and maybe the boost fooler thingy... gauges are a given.. for sure getting those.

I would like to get some other mods do.. I would like to be able to actually fill up my gas tank... maybe add a filter or two for the oil and fuel. I have been reading about the mods to the fuel rail to keep the air/foam out of em.. sounds a little complicated, but worth it.

I am not scared to wrench, but I dont know squat about diesel motors. All the ghetto-fab work I do is on 40yr old broncos... mostly bolting stuff that was never designed to fit and using it ways it wasnt designed to be used... so shouldnt be all that different /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

i think the mbrp is a good choice, its what i got, i looked around for almost half a year before i got it, it looked like the best exhaust for the money, and i think it is, its mandrel bent, i got a muffler delete after having my exhaust for a week, i dont really think its much louder if at all other than the fact that having the muffler on cuts out alot of the turbo whistle /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif, man i like the whistle of the turbo /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif, its awsome /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif, and just an educated guess, i bet you are probly gonna end up with a muffler delete /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
