Front passenger door decided not to open from the inside on Friday. So Saturday I ripped into the door and extracted the lock and all the goodies, throughly cleaned them, tested each piece and reinstall the whole lot. Worked great all Saturday until Sunday morning. Tried to open from the outside and it was hard to press the button in. Now the door won't open from the inside or the outside. The lock works from the remote, the door switch and the key, but the door won't budge.
Any ideas on how I can get the door open again???

Thanks for your help

Regards

What was the inital cause of it not working??

I have done this before, (not on my own vehicles), but if you roll the window down you can lift the door panel out of the groove and pull it back, but you have to be careful not to crack the panel.

Then roll the window back up, and stick your hand in between the door panel and door skin to grab the rod and manually release the latch.

Intial clause is unknown. I can only assume it was 13 or 14 years of dirt and dried out grease, as it worked fine after cleaning with no visiable damage or worn parts.
I can't pull the panel as you discribe as there are many screws that hold it together that are not accesible once the door is closed.
The cable to the lock works fine and the lock it self feels like it actuates, but it does not unlatch the lock.
Kind of like a Rubbic's cube puzzle

Will keep trying to get it open with patience and no big tools

I don't think you understand what I am saying, I don't mean you are going to pull the panel off,

You are just going to unhook the top of the panel from the door where the window felt is, all the screws are at the bottom of the panel, except for the one in the door handle on the armrest. That one can easily be removed with the door closed.

Then slide your hand between the gap.

Could pull the seat but there is one screw that is hidden by the dashboard

So its a crew cab so I was able to pull out the clip holding in the lock cyclinder and get a look inside. Got a welding rod and bent a hook in the end and was able to pull the door operating rod close enough to the hole to grab with long nose pliers. You have to been the rod but its easy to straighten out latter. Then with the plier I just had to push down on the rod and it pops the door open.
Problem was somehow I did not engage the operating rod correctly in the door handle and it would stick up and not operate the handle
Only takes about 15 mins to do.
Problem is if you have a regular cab 2 door and cant get to the lock clip I dont know what you would do

Thanks for the imput guys
