I recently had my trany rebuilt by a reputable shop. I brought it to them because it was shifting horribly and the OD light was flashing. When I got it back the OD light started flashing within a mile of driving. The mechanic said the trany and the truck computer were'nt communicating .The trany worked fine when it was hooked up to their computer thingy. Then they said it might be the weak batteries. We replaced the batteries. Still no change. Then they blamed the problem on the Duratrans. Told me to leave it unplugged. Worked fine on a 70 mile trip. On the way back the light started flashing and shifting extremely hard. I pulled over, shut it off, plugged in the Duratrans and it worked fine. So far the Transcommand has been plugged in. Since then I've bipassed the Transcommand with the proper plug from Banks. Since they put in the trany upgrades it should no longer be needed. It does shift better when running without the light flashing. So now some days the light will flash and some it won't. It's making me crazy. The mechanic said they cleaned all the plug contacts.

PLEASE HELP

Thanks
Walter

Are the Tach and speedo working good......... Next time it starts to flash count the flashes....... Could be the FIPL is out of range. Check my photo link for the codes. Any tire changes in size recently.

Tachometer and speedo working correctly and no tire change. I take it TCIL is the overdrive light. I printed out the 3 code pages. Would one of the code readers at Kragen work on my truck. Actually, I'll give the codes to my mechanic. I would appreciate more input though, my mechanic has either lost the will or doesn't know what to do. Last time he had my truck for three weeks.

I don't understand the part about counting the flashes. Once it stars flashing it doesn't stop.

Thanks

Your truck is OBD I and there is a way to get the codes without using a "code reader" HERE is the link to get the codes using an analog volt meter.
You can also get the codes with an OBD I scanner of course, The DLC (connector) is located in the engine compartment. Should be on the D/S.
