on a 80 mi. trip today my e40d od lite started flashing 20 mi.in and i could not notice any slipping but the temp went from its norm. about 165deg. to 180-190 at 55mph the tach seemed to be at its norm.range for the speeds i was going and the temp was cooler at 170 at 70-75mph than at 50mph it stayed on all day after 4 hr cool down this eve. i checked the wires on the side of trans and fluid all seemed ok and disconnected the batts.now the light is out and i drove another 20mi with no prob.my ? is -is this a sign of worse probs coming or a fluke, also will the codes still be there monday to scan?
not a trans guy,thanks- george

Pull the dipstick and smell for burnt fluid. If this is the original tranny U are lucky. First try to flush the lines and the cooler(of which I hope you changed when new, stock is a POS!!) and change the fluid. As for the codes, there in there intill they are cleared. Just make sure if you have a chip to remove it before trying to read the codes.

I had this happen last year. The code in my truck was 'converter lock-up slipping' or something like that. Since I was broke (still am) I used a bottle of friction enhancer that the trans shop gave me. I didn't think that it helped at all. Like yours, I could not really tell there was a difference except that the trans was shifting harderd. Well over the winter my truck broke and would not start, now that it runs again, I have not see the blinking OD light.

Probably doesn't help your case, but I have 214k on my original trans with only one known fluid change. I am expecting a rebuild in my future.

disconnected the batts.

That cleared the codes. They're gone. They probably will come back, but if they don't, no problems!

Yup, the code(s) are gone. Pulling the pcm fuse will clear them also.

RacerX, where is the PCM fuse? I pulled every fuse in my fuse block and that didn't work?

'93 F350 diesel auto 200 K

The 93 diesel is different from the 94.5-97, on those the pcm fuse is #9, I don't know about the older ones.

The next forum down is where you they discuss the pre-94.5 and you will probably have better luck there.
