I saw on ebay a oil rail crossover line /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif it says that it equalizes oil pressure to the injectors. Is that a wise thing to do? Anyone have a DIY write up and pics on this? Can anyone further explain what youd need to do it and what the benefit would be?
Thanks

What it does in connect the two rails which equalizes the pressure and will smooth out the motor...I got mine from Tymar for about $30 or so...Smoothed the motor out from idle all the way to highway speeds...I think its a good inexpensive mod.

honestly i noticed no difference at all when i put mine on. i had to take mine off recently because it keeps working its way loose and leaking oil. couldnt even tell the difference right after i took it back off. i have the stainless one though and i think thats why its working loose, because of the vibration through the hard steel line. it is supposed to equal the oil pressure out though which is worth it to me. just gotta figure out a way to keep it from leaking

"i have the stainless one though and i think thats why its working loose" Do you mean braided or is it actually a hard tube? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

I was wondering. I have had the braided stainless ones
from Dale 1 for a few years and they haven't loosened up.

Well I gues the question still stands do they do what they claim to do. That is does the oil crossover line actually equal out the oil pressure between both sides of the engine, and if so what is the advantage?

I dont have any PROOF that it does but I can say that I noticed a smoother idle all the way up to highway speeds.

The advantage is that the ICP sensor can regulate fuel better now and make for a smoother, quiter and possibly more efficient cycle. The proof are the pressure graphs on Dennis' site.

So we're pretty much sayin for 30-40 its worth the time? Whats risks, downside etc? Basically what could go wrong? (Pvt murphys law) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You could spring an oil leak, the truck will die because you have no oil to fire the injectors, and you are stranded until you fix the leak and refill the oil.

Solution: KEEP THE HEAD PLUGS IN THE GLOVEBOX, put them in a plastic baggie and make sure you have the tools to reinstall them in case of a leak, and on long trips, keep enough oil handy to refill in case of a leak, 2 gallons +.

Had a Tymar one on my 97 for 50K. It quieted the truck up immediately and smoothed out the idle. Once installed it never leaked or showed any sign of it. Good product.

** No performance gain, no mileage gain, no HP gain ** It just balances things out and keeps pressure equalized in the rails to prevent the nomal pressure loss due to the sequencial operation of the injectors. Don't remember which ones but there are 2 that fire in a sequence that robs pressure from the other rail and is said to cause injector noise and disruption in fuel flow causing rough idle.

Don't quote me on that.

Yeah i think Im gonna do it in the fall when business slows down. Thanks for all the info guys! Greg keeping the "port" covers is good I kept my tranny sending unit plug, bought a pyro plug and got some 1/4 fuel line for the boost gauge in case any of em take a crap on me.

Thanks again guys
