About a mile from my house I heard, what sounded like a pop (I thought it was a rock I ran over) but after that I noticed a clicking noise. Pulled into my driveway and popped the hood and the clicking was coming from around the a/c compressor and power steering pump and there was oil everywhere. Any ideas what it could be? Maybe powersteering pump? It looks more like oil than power steering fluid. All of my fluids check ok and no warning lights came on. Checked all hoses and found no cracks?

the clicking noise is coming from the round thing by the power steering fluid fill cap. It's like there is something loose in there and it's rattling around. Any ideas??? I know it's late but any quick response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Does the air conditioner still work?...That oil may be Freon...the clicking may be the relay trying to turn the AC on...Bearings may be wore out of the compressor pulley or loose hose connection...

Just a guess off the top of my head.

Come to think of it, it looks more like grease than oil. I have not tried running the A/C. I turned truck off as soon as I heard that. I checked all the hose connections and they are good. What is that big round (aluminum?) thing in between the compressor pulley and the power steering fluid fill cap? There is something loose in there or it sure sounds like it is coming from there. Wasn't using the A/C when it started but truck ran perfect for the 1/2 mile it was doing it. I am stumped?? I hope it is nothing major as I am pulling the 5er and boat down to Lake Powell next weekend (or at least planning on it). Calling it a night and going to check back in 4 hours when you experts can lead me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

The round thing that your looking at is your vaccume pump.I don't know about grease or oil coming out.

Turns out it was the vaccuum pump. The Ford stealership wants $186 for the pump then there is an additional $200 labor/towing (I am very busy working this weekend so I couldn't try to do it myself). Does $186 sound about right for the pump?? Thank you guys for the responses so I was able to tell the mechanic what it was even though that is what he suspected.
