I have noticed a little bit of oil around my transmission lately, and have been meaning to check it out, but a couple of days ago while I was out camping I noticed oil all over the front of my trailer. Upon closer inspection I found it (it appears to be engine oil) all over the bottom of my truck, and it appears to be leaking above the tranny (5 speed) I cannot tell exactly where it is leaking from because there is so much sprayed all over, but it might be coming from the area below the turbo? I cannot see anything obvious on the top or bottom of the engine. I lost about 3 quarts of oil going 200 miles mostly up hill, and a quart on the way back down.
Please give me any ideas, I know my dad replaced his HPOP when something similar happened to him, but I dont know much about that and I cant get ahold of him for advice for a couple of weeks.
Thanks in advance...

Clean it up as best you can and look around. With that much leaking it should be obvious where its coming from. I know the EBPV actuator rod is prone to leak, and that would be under your turbo. I'm sure some of our more knowledgable members will chime in with ideas for you. In the meantime, you can do a search on "oil leak" and come up with quite a bit of info. Hope you get it worked out.

My vote is for the turbo ped orings. Seems now we have had several towing campers and I think the heat from egt's is getting to them.

I hope it is not the same thing that happened to me, check the flywheel inspection cover, mine had rubbed a hole in the oilpan, I was lucky that everything was out so it could be welded.

Good luck.

That's what mine was. The best way to tell, other than actually checking if they are tight /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif is if it only leaks when you are driving and not at idle. That's what was driving me crazy, at idle everything ran great and no leak. Drive around for a few minutes (higher hpop pressure) and oil all over the place.

May also be the o rings in the high pressure oil pump. I had mine fail right after buying the truck with the same results you describe. Look in the valley of death right behind the fuel filter and see if oil is puddling in the valley and running toward the back on the engine.
