Like the title says... I picked up another 6.9 truck last weekend, really clean 86 F250 Lariat, everything working, with a wastegated Banks on it, but it some coolant in the oil (light grey oil) and a LOT of oil in the coolant... thick LOTS of oil. The truck starts fine, and didnt really sound like it was missing, but I only ran it for 30 seconds and drove it onto trailer, I didnt want to hurt anything. Added fresh oil first too, just incase.

The previous owner said that when it happened, it blew the rad hose off, and sprayed coolant mixed with oil all over everything. He said he replaced the oil cooler... but he replaced it with a junkyard one, and I dont know how much I trust that.

I am happy with the truck, I got it for $800, it has 180k on the clock, and even with the motor, I think its a good deal for the straight body and the turbo. I do want to get this running though and sell my other truck.

Any input or suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks!

My vote is a blown head gasket or gaskets. The 6.9 are prone to head gasket problems, and with a turbo....it'd be at the top of my list. It could also be the oil cooler, cracked head or heads, or a cracked block. I'd open it up and fix it right.

Get a Haynes manual. It's not perfect but it will do and it is certainly better than nothing.
