So I just had a ridiculous amount of work done on my 7.3. Engine overhaul and a rebuilt trans.
However, it now has an oil leak it never had. I am planning on taking it back in but was wondering what you all thought it may be leaking from. I’m wondering if it’s my rear main. Thanks

The 7.3 has a valley pan that sits between the heads and slopes down towards the back of the engine. Any fuel leak from the bowl or lines or oil leak from the turbo drains into this valley and then it drains down the back of the engine and gives the appearance that the rear main seal is leaking and gives new owners a real scare $$$.

The drip in your attached photo can be diesel fuel, oil or even both but its a much less expensive issue than a rear main.

There are better descriptions and photos that describe this if you use the search function.

The splatter in your photos looks more like diesel.

A photo or two looking up a the bottom of the engine would be helpful in tracking it down. Oil on pavement doesn't really tell us much. But maybe ArcticDriver has a special thing for analyzing photos of oil drips. ;)
But like ArcticDriver said, everything winds up at the same place at the rear of the engine.
