Allright, my light coating of oil has turned to a hanging drip, which is now a dripping drip. I have about 20 drops on my driveway now. I checked what i think is the CPS to see if that was leaking, i checked a thing with two red wires that goes into the block right behind the steering pump. Is that the cam sensor?

Now, i have looked at about 23 6.0 up to 2007 model year, and it is my conclusion that if you don't have one that leaks, then you may want to add some oil to it. My question is, it seems like the only options left for leaking on this truck require the transmission and/or the engine to come out to fix.

There is no way in hell im going to let them pull the engine. I don't see how it will ever be 'right' again if they do.

So, how many have had it fixed successfully, and how many are just dealing with it? I have 38,000 miles, so im not sure how much worse it will get.

I had my 05's oil leak "fixed" a few times. It always had the hanging drip and an occassional drip would hit the driveway. I never ever had to add oil to it, though. I just got to the point where I figured it wasn't a big deal and I didn't worry about it anymore. I just wiped it off whenever I happened to be under the truck.

Having to add a gallon of coolant every couple of weeks and being told by my dealer that there was nothing wrong....now that worried me....so I fixed it for good.

I had the bed plate leak on my 03. Motor was pulled once for that and another time for head gaskets. After that BP repair my oil issues were over. Now that does not mean it always goes well. I've seen others post that they had the repair done and still have leaks. A inexperienced tech could replace the seal and throw it all together only to find the real problem was a crack in the casting. Just find a dealer that has some dedicated diesel techs. These guys spend their days pulling motors out and it shouldn't be an issue. Let them put the dye in the motor to figure out the true source of the leak. You can always say no if they tell you it's the BP.

My 06 went in last week for what I thought was the CPS sensor. Turns out to be the BP on this one too.

Any reason i can't just wait until i get closer to the end of warranty? I mean, it doesnt hurt anything, and it keeps things under the truck from rusting...so thats good. :/

Ag..I understand. But, have you considered...

For argument sake..you take in now. Told leak coming from ?? may/maynot be easy fix? You leave it..later on told fixed & alls well. Point is...you might get lucky on 1st trip..if not & leaks continue..maybe some warr. left?

I ran out of warr. Still get o. dripping (not major) but usually after running hard OTR. Good luck!

btw..the cam sensor in block/2 wires..above p.s.pump..easy to spot if leaking oil. Mine replaced.

i would get it done now so that anything that may occur from the engine being removed would be covered no questions asked. say something wasnt installed exactly correct and maybe caused another leak in 5k it would be covered, just my opinion. when i pull an engine for somthing 95% of the time you cant tell unless its cleaner than it was before or some scratches by the motor mounts, but ive seen some hack jobs thats why i say get it done now, someone hacks it when you have 99k on it and a month left on your warranty it may not be good.

Thats a good point. I will have it checked out as soon as i can afford it. 100 bucks...i can't really do that right this minute. No matter when i do it, if its a bed plate leak, its can just sit there and leak. That engine isnt coming out of that truck until it has 300k on the odometer.

I called...ill probably drop it off before too long. I was told up to two weeks if it actually has to be pulled, but they have done a bunch, so my adviser told me. He said they will not dye it unless its just so bad he can't see anything.

I dont know why you are so afraid of having the engine pulled. They pulled mine to do the BP repair, and the engine is still bone-dry now 40K miles later.

Point is, yes, sometimes they make mistakes. But if you have a good working relationship with the dealer, they will fix those mistakes, no questions asked. All it takes is a little patience.

I feel like my truck is better than new now that all the work has been done to it.

Well, im skittish because there is a LOT of $#%@ on top of that engine. How they ever get all that @#[email protected]# back on it when they are done, and in the right place, i don't know.

Im going to take it in anyway and see what the cause is.
