Let's just say that the air intake was sucking a significant amount of oil out the crankcase and was feeding it mostly into #1 and #2 cylinders. Air filter is plugged so it's not getting all the air. would all this oil, lack of air, unburnt diesel in the cylinder possibly plug the injectors?

Pulling oil thru the crankcase breather isn't going to wind up mostly in cyls 1 & 2. If anything, the two center cylinders on each bank will get a bit more oil, if it even makes it thru the intercooler.

I can't see how it would plug injectors at all.

What are your symptoms? Other than having a severely plugged air filter, which would cause black smoke even if you weren't pulling oil from the crankcase.

It did have black smoke, but after I changed air filter I have white smoke. What I read it is either bad injector or low compression. but here is the kicker, at idle light blue smoke than when I hammer down and hold high rpm bellowing white smoke. Any ideas

Also on my mod engine the engine crankcase breather is tied into the air intake right before the turbo than air goes through turbo has boost goes through air to air than feeds in to #1 and #2 cylinders

If you look at the openings in your intake plenums, you'll notice that the holes are not above #1 and #2. As a matter of fact, they are probably the furthest from the intake.

Air, or in your description, oil, would enter through the intake valve so it wouldn't hurt the injector. You could fill the cylinder with oil while running and it wouldn't hurt the injector. You'd probably end up with bent/broken rods and a hole in the side of the block, but the injector should be ok.

Give us more information on your truck. How many miles? Original injectors? Any mods? How does it run? Is it burning any oil? Did fuel mileage go South? How long have you had the truck?

Mod engine? On a stock 7.3L the crankcase breather is tied in before the turbo, which sends air (and oil vapor) thru the intercooler and into the intake plenums about midpoint of each cylinder bank, not at the front where 1 and 2 are.

It sounds to me like you have some serious issues. An injector gone bad could explain the white smoke and lost compression (broken rings, cracked piston, blown head gasket, etc) could explain the smoke at higher rpm's.

I'd start with a cylinder contribution test, then a compression check, then pull the injectors and have them checked/rebuilt if everything else checks out OK.

My mod engine is a dual turbo 442 Mercedes 8 cyl engine diesel. I just asked the question in this forum to see if you thought the oil could plug a injector.Sorry for the confusion.do you think it's possible?

The engine has about 7000 hours. It has been burning about a gallon of oil a day.original injectors in it. The engine sounds normal at idle and full throttle. Thanks for all the info. There are no Mercedes diesel forums or repair manuals for that matter.

With broken rings or cracked piston etc, how much metal would you find in oil and oil filter? I removed filter, cut one end off and pulled the paper out. It unfolded like a according and the heat of the day drained oil off paper and there were some shavings but only a few.

Are we talking about a 7.3L Powerstroke here?

If not, then this thread is in the wrong place. If you're asking the question on the Mercedes Diesel, then let me know and I'll move the thread to General Diesel.

You can pick up a compression tester and glow plug adapter for around $50. Search the web for Star Products 15-TU. That's the Diesel Compression tester I have. You'd also need an adapter to fit your engine model.
