Just like the title says, I am not maintaining pressure at the HPOP reservoir. I put a new LPOP in today, same problem. Turns out it is just dropping at the HPOP reservoir, when I hooked the guage up at the filter base the pressure looks good. I did some searching and found a mention of the lifter gallery plug at the back of the motor coming out and causing this. They said there was a TSB for it, but I can't find any other info on it. Anyone know anything about this or have any other ideas?

Thanks, Balin

The oil in the HPOP is not under pressure, it is just a resoviour for the HPOP.

Mach1, It is under pressure, it should be at the same pressure as the rest of the motor. If it wasn't under pressure why would they put the oil pressure switch there and how would it get filled with oil?

As for my symptoms, the pressure rises to about 30 psi at 2500 rpms or so and then start to fall off after that. The motor will stall if I rev it up and then back out of it really quickly. I assume it is stalling because the HPOPs are starving for oil. Measuring pressure at the filter base, everything looks good.

While the truck is running....i dare you to remove the plug on top of the reservoir...you may be very surprised. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif The Oil pressure sender wouldn't be on top of the reservoir if irt wasn't pressurized.

KRP...are you running Jody's Big oil programming? There is a parameter that has to be changed in programming to prevent the type of stalling you describe. My truck use to satll after letting off the throttle after holding it at high rpms. During live tuning, we discovered what needed to be corrected.

As far as your oil pressure issue itself...Before tearing into your motor, I'd stick a guage on the plug on top of the reservoir and verify the issue.

Hammer, Yes I have Jody's tunes for oil. I got them after he tuned your truck so I assume I got the right programing and I don't think I had a stalling issue when I first installed the chip. I had a guage on the reservoir yesterday, I pulled the EOT sensor and hooked the guage up. I hooked the guage to the filter base afterwards and the pressure looks good but it is dropping at the reservoir.

I don't know if this will help you but I ran a secondary #4 line from back by the oil filter to the check plug hole in the HPOP res. I did this after having issues with the oil gauge when running at WOT (The guage would drop to zero during hard acceleration). I'm not sure if this or a combination of other "Fixes" cured it but I don't have the problem now.

Thanks, I considered doing something similar to see if it helped. What other "fixes" did you do?

I got that one messed up, I meant to say that the oil in the HPOP resivour is not HPOP pressure, its lube oil pressure from the LPOP. Sorry, my bad.
