02' E350, 5.4 gasser. The over dive is not shutting off using the button on the shift lever. It has recently in the past.

Any suggestions?

There is probably not going to be a code stored for this one. Most likely one or more of the wires has broken where it enters the shift handle inside the steering column.

This & the NEXT several photos show how easy it is to pull the shift lever off the column if the TCS/TCIL wires are damaged:

The differences between your truck's shifter & my car's are superficial. The rest of that photo album show all the details of the steering column, including totally rebuilding it.

Good tutorial Steve, I need to remove my column to get to the torx screw in back holding on the shifter plate. It came loose while on vacation. I was able to snake my hand up back there, but I would feel better redoing it with some mild lock-tite. The shifter arm doesn't have spring tension against any longer either. Must wiggle it sometimes to get key out.
