Has anyone ever heard of p pumping a 6.9. I know its been done to 7.3 psd but never a 6.9. I would like to know how hard this would be.

I'm not sure how they put a mechanical IP on a powerstroke, seeing as how the injectors are electronically operated and they only use the HPOP to supply fuel to the passages in the head.

Next issue I think you would have is finding a pump that fires a cylinder every 90 degrees of engine rotation. Most of your bosch inline pumps are setup for 6 cylinder inline engines, which fire a cylinder every 120 degrees. Maybe 3208 Cat uses one?

Third issue would be size. In order to put it in the stock location where the DB2 pump is, there's not alot of extra length between the intake manifold inlet and the pump mounting flange, you'd have to measure carefully.

Fourth issue is getting enough air to the engine to use all the fuel you'd be shooting in. If you put enough boost into the engine to solve this problem, then you might find the head gaskets to be a weak point.

Yes a 7.3 powerstroke can be converted to a mechanical pump but you mostly just use the block and crank, the head have to be cut and welded and drilled to fit what i heard used john deere injectors a p-pump out of an 8.1 international v-8 engine and custom fabed intake its tons of work. there has also been a 7.3 idi bosch inline p-pumped same as 6.9 but bigger bore that had two garrett turbos, custom injectors fabricated intake and exhaust mainfolds and some cylinder head work, the crank, block and rods were head treated compression ran 15.1, it was said to make 1200 hp and quarter mile time was in the 9's, It was max lagod of hypermax back in the early 1990's but the engine block flexed so bad that the rear of the engine block broke off so he had to use rubber freeze plugs. but if you want to see p-pumped powerstrokes go to youtube and type in double overtime or stroked out both trucks are p-pumped powerstrokes.

There is no reason to need a Bosch "P" pump for an IDI without doing some very serious (ridiculous) modifications internally. The DB2 IP on the truck now can be modified to delivery way more fuel than the stock motor can handle (too much boost/EGT's).

You'd need cradle and stud the mains, billet rods, low compression pistions, major head work, stud the intake and heads, much larger turbo....and blah, blah, blah..........:icon_rolleyes:

All that stuff would have to be custom made and you'd have a obsenely expensive toy with a short life span.

If you want to get crazy power and stay IH......get a DT360 or DT466 and try and shoehorn one it your truck.:lol:
