It's been a while but here I am. Code in the title is bank 2 sensor 3. It's cleared but my inexpensive OBD reader still shows it. My 2011 was going through those so I have a spare and will replace it later today, we are home. If I recall correctly #3 is easy to get to. I have an old post about this but for the sake of brevity.. cut the wire and use a 6 point 13mm socket. Personally I use anti sieve(sic) on the sensor. This truck is a 2019 with 40K on it. Probably half towing and low idle hours. I haven't done it but the low idle mod is worth it if you live in cold climates.

Ya might want to recheck that code. Does not appear to be valid...

I will. The trailer is still hooked up and I want to dump tanks today. Our volunteer FD is great and has clean outs there. What I did do yesterday was clear the code, second time. Dash shows normal but OBD still shows the fault as stated in the subject line. I have no clue why it didn't clear the first time. Hopefully it is not the harness I've read about here. Time will tell and I will report back. As always, thank you.

Get this WWW.forscan.org I also got the plug in adapter. I know it was a little pricy but I hear there is some sort of a switch you have to switch for some stuff but they one they offer does it automatically. Also they do offer a free version but if you purchase a license then it will do more stuff. It will read codes and clear them however some codes you may be able to clear but there are some that only the dealer can reset.

Beginning of the month is always busy here. Code is P2467 and the reader is an Innova 3020a. This reader has two rows of lights on the top left. Bottom 4 right side, top two right and top three left blink. To small and quick for me to read but I'll poke around. Tomorrow will be slower and if I can get a trailer issue diagnosed and fixed I'll take it to NAPA and see what their reader says.

Odds are NAPA won't be able to get the codes either. They need a reader for a heavy duty diesel.

FORScan is the easiest way to go for both codes and live data.

Ford will pull the code tomorrow. Specialty shop wanted 350 & 3 days. Here's what I'm thinking, my old reader isn't up to date on newer vehicles. When I looked at the after DEF filter probe the wiring covering was frayed on the sensor. It's also a different harness than my 2011 so that part I have is useless. I got lucky and had parts and a tech on the phone. Small towns and spending local is what we try to do.

Here's the funny part; I brought up FORscan. Tech was on speaker phone and said "Danger Will Robinson, not if you want your truck to run again." Sounded younger than myself and I barely remember that series. Now, for the younger crew, "I'll be back."

"Danger Will Robertson" is in reference to a TV series called Lost In Space in the late 60's early 70's. Where a robot would warn Will Robinson of some sort of danger.

One reason that a dealer tech won't like FORScan is that vehicle owners will get into the BCM and start changing parameters to get something.something to work different. An example is shutting off a double honk if you shut the door while the truck is running, or other annoying things. They then screw up the parameters with zero idea of how to fix it. They'll then take their vehicle into the dealer for them to fix their screw up

When you know you know. This is not correct. If a vehicle owner is going to change a parameter, enable or disable features they are NOT likely to complain about it or bring it into the dealer when it doesn't work or does not work as expected. No, what we don't like is vehicles being dragged in after someone with a lack of knowledge, poor skills and no access to the needed resources attempt a diagnosis and creates problems in the process. A vehicle owner disconnecting components and performing tests, jamming inappropriate test leads in electrical connectors spreading them open, tapping into circuits they shouldn't causing unrelated and erroneous codes and symptoms. Don't blame FORScan. This biggest annoyance for me is when a customer presents a vehicle and walks up the Service Advisor and says, " my mechanic says" or "I pulled these codes" and the codes are presented incorrectly by some random scan tool or written down WRONG that may also include erroneous codes caused by the forementioned examples. Then there is the superstar that will have an intermittent concern and then erase his codes along with the snap-hot data that goes with it and then gets pissed when we can't recreate the concern or diagnose the concern with nothing to go on. For the record, MANY Ford techs use FORScan including myself.

To keep with the Movie/TV themes; "Here's Johnny." Ford service manager pulled P24B7. Same sensor I thought. Truck will be in and out next Thursday, quick I thought as they have to order the part.

Apparently there has been some difference in code reading over the years.Currently it is hexadecimal. FORscan apparently lets a user write simple code other than something like C++. That and users wanting to reprogram as the Doctor said can cause problems is what I got out of the conversation. Personally, mine is stock and I'm happy with it. I may get FORscan since sometimes I can be 100-200 miles from anywhere. Some device like Spot is also in the back of my mind.

It has been an interesting few days. The truck was supposedly done yesterday as scheduled. Dealer wasn't answering the phone or returning calls. Late afternoon a call saying it was done. To close to closing time and too far. We waited until this AM. Showed up this AM and it hadn't been touched. Give us 20-30 minutes and it will be done. Spin our wheels in town for an hour and show back up. Truck hasn't been moved. Went in and asked for my key. Took them a while to find it and during that time it turns out they don't even have the part. "We can go get it." I know where they have to go and it's 2 hours minimum round trip. Other Dealer the other way has the part(s). Should have just taken it there in the first place. I could write more but it would just get boring.

I replaced part #'s HC3Z*5J213*B & LC3Z*5E145*D yesterday. Both are downstream of the canister. One is an EGT probe and the other a sensor. I know, I'm only throwing money into it at this point. CEL is cleared but my old OBD reader still shows the code. I will drive it today and see what happens. It's corn maze season here and we get a lot of traffic.

HC3Z.. replaces LC3Z.. That was slightly different.

A friends son is a Ford tech and will look on Monday at the code. As an aside the FORscan I watched was pretty cool. It showed live data from the EGT probes.

Well, the CEL is still on. After talking with local shops and other Dealers this truck is still under emission warranty via the VIN. Local Dealer denied that but that's another problem for me to deal with.I get in, again, next week elsewhere. Update will show sometime.

It's been a long few days. Thanks to my local non-dealer shop the truck was under emission warranty as I thought. That info and a phone call to the local Ford Dealer got me in this am. Part # JC3Z 5L239C Original quote was around $555 and that work was never performed. I will be contacting Ford Corp and words were spoken.

There is a bright side. The independent shop I occasionally used has changed hands. The new owner grew up here and knows all my neighbors. Adults now but kids I watched grow up. Weddings, graduation's, etc. The F350 appointment there was canceled but I swapped that out for the daily driver, preventive maintenance. He spent 20 minutes on the phone for me yesterday. Least I could do is send him some business. It also turns out he is a Porsche afficiando. I told him when I get my old 911 out of a specialty shop I'd stop by so he could drive it. 67S pristine but more of a track car than driver.
