Now I can't get the pedal off the floor. Anyone know if I have to replace the whole assembly or just the plastic lever? Is it hard to disengage the brake without the lever?

I was doing the gauge upgrade and lost the boost fitting, fell somewhere behind the pedal, pushed it to the floor to take a look, broke it off trying to disengage it.

It got dark, and I got to tow with it in the morning....thanks for help in advance.

Re: relieve the tension

It's quite likely that the front cable has gone. The part's not very expensive, and you can do the repair yourself without a lot of trouble. My lone piece of advice would be to disconnect the intermediate cable from the balance bar (where it splits to go to each rear wheel) first before hooking the new front cable to the intermediate cable.

You'll probably have to disconnect and remove the PCM to access the pedal mechanism. Pull the negative battery terminals, then undo the bolt on the connector in the engine compartment, and you can then remove the PCM and its bracket as one piece.

thanks Jim

I just read your post. I went ahead and started to tear into it. Had to remove what you said and ended up ordering a new parking brake mechanism due to mine looking warped?? and would not release.

Now I am wondering how to reconnect the intermediant cable back up??? any clue on how to do this easily? It was hard enough just to remove it...you know, where it clamps into the pedal assembly?
