I've been dealing with some PCM issues, mainly not firing the glow plugs, I wired up a manual switch, but would like to actually fix my PCM so as to not have my SES light on. I pulled the computer and there are NO codes/markings/indications of what serial number I have. How else can I figure out what code my computer is?

What code is it throwing? If the SES light is lit there is a code. Which may point to something else.

There should be a plastic tab on the access port of the pcm saying the specific code. My 99 is nvk4.

The PCM code should also be on a sticker on the A pillar below the top door hinge, assuming it hasn't faded away. If there are no stickers that are readable, your Ford dealer should be able to read the PCM code using their scan tool. They could also tell you why the SES light is on by telling you the codes. But the codes are gone once you disconnect power, so you'll have to reinstall it in your truck and get the SES light again to get codes.

You might be able to sort it out from this list of PCM codes. http://www.thedieselstop.com/faq/9497faq/geninfo/pcmcodes.php3

I know what codes it is throwing, p1395/p1396, glow plug monitors. The PCM doesn't turn on the GPR, so I wired in a manual switch. There's no sticker on/near the A pillar, so I guess i will have to have ford scan it and tell me what computer I have :-(
