That is going to be exspensive. Sorry for the bad luck Jim but look on the bright side your wife was driving, she won't be able to say much about the repair.

brings back some bad memory's, looks like it's time for studs. i went back with new factory gaskets and headstuds, haven't had any trouble , of course i still find myself backing out of it around 45 psi, not sure why /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

I have the head studs and Stock gaskets in the shop ready to go in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Just have to pull the block out of the truck and rebuild the bottom end.

It looks like the edge of the HG got in there and beat the living snot out of it.

Jim,
That does not look right! I find it hard to belive that the ring on a stock head gasket could do that, maybe I guess.
If you need a piston or two give me a yell and I will get them shipped off. They had about 130k on them and visually they lookl good.
Suggestion.....
If I had my heads off I would consider drilling out the fuel in/out ports to 3/8 or 1/2 and have them retapped. 1/8" is just gotta be too small!
I would not invest the time again in porting, just do not think it was that much if any of a gain.
Let us know what you plan!
Remember, the studs get torqued down in the block with like only 20 ft, if my memory serves me.
Keep us posted and pics are good.

I got enough blown up sh-t to fill a barn, sorry dude that sux, once again at least the wife was behind the wheel, so the $$$ is justified in fixing her "mishap". When it breaks build it faster, its only money, we can get more, this wheelie is for you http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0LZME74T4K3B731L2RBRC36B0C

the studs should not be torqued down at all, they need to be bottomed out and backed off ever so slightly, that way u will have equal pressure on all the threads of the stud.

Thats why I ended it with if memory serves! What you say makes sense.
I know DI told me to set them in at 20. Oh well, what ever the instructions say...

Why don't you just take the shift bulb out, LOL.
Very impresive, now if I can only get my Crew-Cab to do that.....

again wasn't me. Was a pump gas camero /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/vomit.gif with 10" tires, slapper bars small block, 225 shot of spray, street driven. That was a 9.60 pass with a 1.33 6o' with the back tires. I'll be there next year and some....no nitrous. Not sure on the track location. Watching that video I can literaly "feel" myself getting planted in this chair...... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

my pics
mine did the same thing. look in my pics then the bottom right of the album. it's not too expensive of a process...except while you got the motor out and heads off might as well do head studs, injectors... everything hard to reach when the engine is in!
i have about 3000 miles on the piston i got from rick and it has been great, actually got a little better compression in that cylinder. plus it has outlasted my latest input shaft. which went last friday. thanks again rick

no. they use a stocker, but i just got off the phone with them and they are sending me a billet shaft after they get done testing them today. i have snapped two in two months and the truck was down 4 weeks during those two months! i just dont understand how it didn't snap off the line at the drag strip... it happened at 60 mph! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif when i floored it (pussed it off the line with the 140 hp chip in)

must be using old 100,000 mile shafts, A new one from a 5r110 is only 50 bucks, same as the e4 and 4r. A billet is a must for dragstrip use IMO.
