Alright guys I am at the end of my rope hear and I am needing some help because I cannot figure this out or I am missing something.

We just installed a new Stroker in a 2002 F350 and we are having an issue I hope someone can help me with.

From the first time we fired it up the truck starts and seems to run ok idling but I have a SES light on all the time. I have pulled the codes and cleared them repeatedly and I am always getting the same "P1316 IDM" code everytime along with the "High to low side open cyl." code for every injector on the passenger side bank.

Now we have checked every wire with the multimeter from each injector all the way to the IDM and there is no shorted or broke wires in the loom any where that we have found. I have even swapped out IDMs just incase and that made no difference.

When the truck was first started we took it for a drive to clear all the air and it now has been driven around 80 miles. The guy says he has a 70hp program downloaded into it currently but the truck is a total dog. When driving it has a horrible hesitation and you can feel slight missing when accelerating.

Setting in the shop idling you can rev the truck upto to around 2500rpm and the SES light will go off for about 3-5 seconds and then comes right back on. When you are driving and let off the throttle the SES will also go off for a few seconds and then back on.

There is not much I can't figure out but this is driving me NUTS and I am hoping someone here can help me out on this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Please HELP....

Thanks.

99% chance you need to replace you under valve cover harness. Which side I dont know, but do both and I bet you will be on your way....

All the injectors are fresh remans but I know there is always a chance of getting bad ones.

I have ran buzz test several times and I can guarantee if there is a difference in any of them then someone with better hearing than me will have to tell.

I thouroghly gone over the valve cover gaskets by hand and with the multimeter several times and there is not any issues I can find with them. Even though I feel these are not the problem I will replace them first thing in the morning with some extras I have laying around.

I do not think there is anything I have not checked or tried but I was hoping someone would come up with something I may be overlooking.

Thanks.

Some times it will show the "High to low side open cyl" for every injector on the passenger bank and then sometimes it will show "No codes Present" after buzz test.

But, Mostly it shows "No Codes Present".

I threw a P1316 last week. Did a buzz test and it all worked fine. Contribution test wes good as well. the truck would run rough and then clear up. New UVC harness and the code and problem went away. I work with electronics every day and often times things show they should work, but when you put a load through them, they fail... It is easier and cheaper to replace the UVC than it is to tear out injectors and buy new ones. You can get a set of UVC harness on Ebay for under $50.

Ryan,
Curious what you think is in the injectors to set any kind of code?
From my limited amount of dabbling with these stupid things I have yet to find anything injector related to set a red flag with the computer. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
I have even passed the buzz test with all 8 injectors removed. 'Splain that one...

OK guys I spent most the day messing with this stinking thing and still have not gotten anywhere.

I installed new UVC harnesses and gaskets with no change.

I have swapped all eight injectors from one side to the other and I still get the SES light and same exact IDM code and codes for all 4 injectors on passenger bank same as I did before I switched anything.

So what else could be causing this??

Could this possibly be a PCM issue??

I will add one more thing I did not think to add before.

The Ford mechanics that I paid to come and do the engine swap for me had hooked the AIH ground upto the glow plug relay. You can imagine what happened the first time we turned the key on.

We had lots of smoke from melting wire insulation but it was only on for a second as I was under the hood when it happened and yelled at my help and he switched it right off. The only wires I found that seemed to be affected by this was the two wires that run over to the solenoid on the inner fender and they just had alot of melted insulation.

Anyways, do any of you think this possibly could have fed back into the PCM somehow and could be the cause of the issue I am having??

Thanks to everyone for your help....

that could have cooled the wires that plug into the UVC... That is a bummer.

Try running into the same problem on a van and trying to figure it out. I have a few hours invested in figuring out the mysterious 1316. I have to give some credit to golfer though cause they figured it out and he gave me a hint on it that helpd me out.

I got the 1316 code a few days after I rinsed the engine off before the new turbo install. After I got the turbo in is when the issue came to be. the scanner showed something about the #6 injector so I got a new harness and that fixed it.
I wonder how mant times a harness fails after a wash? Could be just odd luck, but it makes me wonder.
