I just picked up a 99 f250. It just had injector #7 replaced and wiring harness on that side. It has the superchip program installed. It ran great for a few days. I drove it about 300 miles then it sat for two days. When I cranked it up to let it warm up it did a wierd thing. It increases rpms on its own. I depressed the pedal and got no response at all. I turned it off, turned it back on and good to go. Driving off the ranch I stop to say bye to some one and it increases again. I depress the brake pedal and rpm returns to normal. No issues for 300 mile trip, then stays parked for three days. On 200 mile trip running rough in performance mode. Diesel fumes worse than normal. When I get home i retune to stock settings. Idles perfect. I depress accelerator pedal and it lugs with lots of smoke. Nothing else. Retuned to performance mode and it idles better(drivable) but not good. The only codes i could get were p0603, p0222, p0381. I only got them once. Cleared mutiple times, retuned multiple times. Could not get same codes sitting in driveway. I am not sure if this is a tuning issue or something else.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

the increasing rpms on its own is a high idle the engine does itself to keep warm. should always go away if you tap the brake pedal. sometimes if the engine is really cold it will idle about 900-1000 rpms right off the bat and you cant do anything about that. as for the idle problems.. its probably a connection issue with your chip.

update

Update....It acts the same in all tuning modes now. It will start...idles fine, no power when I depress the accelerator I get lots of grey smoke.

It is not the harness's. I disconnected one at a time and it was equally worse on both sides.

No codes.

How do you test a throttle position sensor?

You dont say if you have gauges. I would check the rubber hose and electrical connections to the MAP sensor on the pass. side fire wall. Has a rubber hose to it and electrical connection.

Gery smoke? Check the fuel filter.

I opened the fuel filter housing but didnt physically pull out the filter. It was full so I assume it is getting fuel. There are no guages(yet). I will check the MAP sensor tomorrow. This morning when I started it up it fired up lugged for about 3 seconds then smoothed out and idled fine. No power when I depress the accelerator and very litttle rpm. IT IS RESPONDING. It's as if it's getting alot of fuel and no air. Would a malfunctioning turbo cause such a problem? Gas mileage before this started was about 14-15 mpg.

It all sounds pretty normal in cold weather.

Where are you located?

When the truck starts, it will idle up in about 30 - 60sec depending on temp. The EBPV will close too - and when you drive around for a while cold - the valve still may be closed causing poor acceleration.

If it stays closed all the time (and sometimes you can hear it cyclin) then you might have a faulty EBP sensor causing the valve to stay closed under throttle.

You are showing a TPS and GP circuit problem as well - so you may want to check these out - you may have a TPS problem.
