Howdy

I have a 2000 psd, 2wd. Starts and idles fine. But I am experiencing loss of power trying to accelerate. At highway speed I floor it and it seems to be lugging down quite a bit. I changed the air filter and will do the fuel filter tomorrow when it warms up. Any other thoughts?

Thanks
Eric

Check for loose boots on the IC tubes, leaking up pipes, or possibly a damaged MAP hose.

That's your EPBV closing to aid in engine warm up. It also increases the turbo noise and give you that jet engine sound.

A bad thermostat will keep the EBPV closed, causing a lack of power and poor fuel economy. However, it should cut out on hard acceleration and allow normal power. I would check fuel pressure first. Then maybe look for a turbo boost leak.

It's not the warming up thing, I've had the truck for almost 9 years and know about that.

I changed the fuel filter, no change. I'm pretty sure the turbo is working, how can I be sure?

No idiot light on but is there a sensor that could be gone?

I can't check the fuel pressure, but I might have to take her to the hospital anyway.

Thanks

It might be better to have someone diagnose it properly. I doubt if your fuel pump is bad. You would really have to look at the fuel pressure. If you replace it and it does not fix it you are going to be in the same boat.
