The power steering pump looks like it has died on my 02 ford f250. The truck only has 60k miles on it and I've heard this is a common problem. I'd rather not just put another stock pump on there if it's only going to last a short time and do the same thing. I noticed PSC has a nice power steering pump setup but it's nearly $500. I'm sure it's a nice setup but I'd rather not spend so much money on this. Is there a factory replacement type pump available through the aftermarket that works better than the stock one and doesn't cost a whole lot?

I can't answer the pump question, as I've only put stock replacement pumps on my truck. BUT, I'll pass on a tip- the high pressure hose only takes very low torque to tighten it. I think it's 27 Nm. Any tighter and you'll have a leak that you won't be able to stop unless you replace the hose. None of the replacement pump instructions mention this.

Thanks for the advise, I ended up taking it to the dealer because the service department told me over the phone it should be covered under warranty. Then I dropped it off this morning and they told me it probably wasn't covered. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif The truck is an 02 with 60k miles on it. Should this be covered under the 100k mile powerstroke warranty?
