No real info on any known "Lifespan" If it's particularly noisey, it needs replaced though.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/phoney.gif

Just had mine rebuilt in Houston by a specialty shop. 1500psi and 4gpm flow which matches the AGR pump (and I didn't have to modify the mounting bracket)...(and it was 1/3 the cost).

Check and see if you have a loose line. That happened to us. Our noise (and in our case, vibration) was from the air in the line. David

Mine became noisy so I flushed it with mobile 1 atf. I can't hear it at all now. Turns easier too.

Is there a written flushing procedure? I would like to do it as well.

How much fluid should one expect to need on hand when doing this? The synthetic ATF aint cheap and I'd hate to buy more than needed.

I think the lifespan of the ps pump has a lot to do with maintenance, type of fluid etc. I have 649,000 miles on My original pump. I have always used synthetic atf, a few ounces of lucas transmission fix, and service the system about every 30,000 miles. This has worked for Me.

D*&^, that is the right user name, how do you even have time to look at a computer with that many miles in five years. I was going to say the same thing about my pump, but I am to embarrased to now.

Makes me look forward to many more miles though.

arisley, I don't usually have much time for tds, but I got to have My fix reguarly. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif My other 02 had 79,000 miles put on the odometer last year, otherwise, the 4X4 would have about 728,000 on the clock. The 4X4 got a little rest last year. I hope the 4X4's PSd will make it to 1,000,000 miles. Brian at BTS tells Me " just keep doing what You have been doing, and keep on driving it"

With that many miles, maybe you should write a book to tell the rest of us how to do it.

I could at least write a short story, time permitting. I do have a lot of info, and experiences to share. I will have put this on the to do list. I was lucky enough to buy a very well built truck. I must have received one of the best to leave the KY truck plant. I was talking with a friend of Mine monday, His 02 PSD has 643,000 on the odometer. No one is going to believe this, His PSD has the original CPS. Everyone is not going to believe this, and I find it unbelievable, but it is true. I gave Him My used CPS, when I changed My original at 315,000, when the original water pump was replaced. He still has it in the glove box, go figure. The dummies at the local Ford dealer have been trying to sell Us a new truck for several years, they just don't understand. I have many people to thank for their help, and support. The TDS Members, BTS, and staff, Bob Riley etc.
