I've searched on here but I cant find anyone with the same issue as me so I need some help. While turning (left and right) into a curve sometimes I can feel resistance on the wheel, if I hold slight pressure on the wheel (to continue thru the curve) the truck will suddenly jerk the same way I am turning the wheel. Here is the kicker it doesn't do it all the time but is getting more frequent. I have checked for a possible binding front u-joint,tie-rod ends, ball joints, pitman arm joints and hub bearings all are ok. The power steering pump seems ok ,no whining noise, no leaks from any hoses. Need help it's kinda dangerous in a curve on a wet road and the front end tries to jerk around.

First thing I'd try is a fluid flush on the Power steering system, which also supplies power to the hydroboost brake booster.

Use a good quality Synthetic ATF like Mobil 1.

Suck everything you can out of the pump reservoir, refill with your new fluid, then remove the line from the driver's side of the hydroboost (the one that goes down to the pump reservoir), then get a piece of hose and stick it on the nipple on the hydroboost and run the other end to a bucket to catch the waste fluid coming out.

Start up the truck and turn the wheels lock to lock and mash the brake pedal a bunch of times with the engine turning about 1200 rpm. Be sure and keep the pump reservoir full so you don't suck air into the system. Once you've put about 3 qts thru it, or when you get new fluid out the waste hose, stop the engine and put the hose back in place and top off the reservoir.

If that doesn't work, you may need to dig deeper, as you may have something wrong mechanically.

Thanks, just so I got this in my head right. I unhook the hydroboost line on the drivers side and put a piece of hose on the nipple on the booster and drop the other end in a bucket? What do I do with the hose that was hooked to the booster? Sorry to sound stupid but I'm going on memory the truck is at home and I'm on duty at the firehouse until 7am.

The hose you disconnect is a gravity drain from the hydroboost back to the reservoir, so you can just lay it aside as long as the end is above the reservoir level so fluid won't run out.

i just replace the power steering hose on my truck, what is the proper way to bleed the air out of the lines since the pump emptied.
The same procedure as above wil get the bulk of the air out. Then driving it will usually take out the rest of the air.
