the front passenger window has stopped working.
at first it would not work from that doors switch, but it would work from the drivers control side, now it does not work at all. all other windows work.
every once in a while i try the window and one time it did work, but i quickly closed it for fear of it being down......
i have a manual but still i am not really sure what to check.
i could replace the switch, but i would like to know how to check the motor itself.

thanks in advance for information

Pull the plug off the window motor, hit the switch and check w/ a test light if you have power to the motor and it doesn't work than you know it's the motor it self.I have an 03 and had to replace my drivers side motor at like 39k miles.

i pulled the plug and reinstalled. the window still did not work, that was last weekend
today however it just started working again from both driver and passenger door switches.
is there something else that might be creating this problem,

i am now very hesitant to use because i dont want he window to be down and then stop working again.

thanks

Did you check for power w/ the plug off.Test plug w/ test light by hitting switch w/ it disconnected from the motor? This will tell you if it's the switch or not.Try this first if not it might be the motor itself. When it's not working give the door panel a little tap around the speaker area and if it works it's the motor.Sometimes the motors get stuck in one spot and the shock will jar it loose. In this case you will need a motor.Good Luck!

Here i s something to noodle around. If the window works from the drivers switch, but not from the passenger switch, it is NOT the motor.
That motor has 3 wires, and does not care where the power is coming from.
But, the power actually originates at the drivers side and goes to/thru the pass switch, but also has its own power too.
That being said, if the pass side switch is NFG, or intermittent, that will cause the symptoms you describe.
Check these things first, pull the connector of the back of the switch, use a very small straight blade screwdriver and try and close the legs of the spade connectors. you may have to disassemble the connector to remove the individual pins. If you do, remember to remove the RED LOCKING bar from the connector first.
If that is still unsatisfactory, disassemble the switch itself. There are small contacts that may have dirt/rust/corrosion/arcing that prevent good current flow.
If all else fails, make some small jumpers and remove the switch entirely. Until you get a new one of course!

That shouldn't take an hour or so to do. And the cost is zero. Even better.
Let us know how you make out.

Bill.

That is absolutley correct!I just realized we're talking Pass. side(my fault):icon_mad:.
A bad drivers side switch can 100% cause another window to fail.I should've read post a little better.:read:(Been a long day). This could very well be your problem.

i took the switches apart as suggested, cleaned all the contacts with contact cleaner, blew them dry, re-installed and all is good.
both switches work, the window goes down and up, up and down....

thanks all for the advice as once again this forum has helped me fix issues with my truck :bigthumb::cheers:

Hello all.... I am having a similar issue to the original one in this thread. A search led me here. I hope that someone will see this and might have an answer for me.... My passenger side window will not go up or down in my 2001 F250. I do have a wiring manual for the truck, but have struggled to make complete heads or tails out of it. I have replaced the switches in both doors. I did take the passenger side switch plug apart and was able to jump the wires to make the window go both up and down, so I know there is power to the passenger switch and that the motor does operate fine. I don't understand then why the switch won't make it go up and down? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
