Hey everybody. I have a problem with my 96 psd thats been happening for quite a while but now its a major problem. What happens is the truck will just kill, the motor that is, when driving around! It used to happen once every month or so and I could live with that but last night it killed 4 times trying to get home! Heres the scenario: Driving down highway motor kills,(it used to kick back on some times), When eng kills still have power and lights etc, I keep rolling down the hwy Turn ign switch off for a few seconds which locks the steering (rather unsafe @ 80mph:nono, Turn back on and this used to restart, But wasnt working yesterday. What I have to end up doing is put in neutral, push in clutch, turn ign off then on after delay then restart, but that doesnt always work on the first try :icon_mad:. I am doing this in traffic trying to cross lanes and roll down the shoulder untill being able to re-start,Remember I also am loosing power steering and brakes which is just fantastic when im pulling a skidsteer or tractor! Heres what I have tried to do: Checked all battery connections, checked and wiggled all fuses, checked and wiggled wiring(especially to cps), Cant read any engine codes. Im lost and very angry I want to destroy the truck:icon_mad:!! Heres what im wondering... Could my cps be faulty? I have a new one im going to install. What about the exh back pressure sensor?(I unpluged and crossed terminals and that kills truck when its running). The same goes for icp sensor but I replaced not too long ago. In conclusion I cant figure it out and am very frustrated and ready to pull my hair out!! Any suggestions please!!! Thank you for reading.

I had the very same problem, I was the cam position sensor replaced it with one from ford for $30.00 and runs fine. and yes it is hard to stop with no power and pulling 10,000 pounds it happened to me

I will put my new cps in this week, I hope thats it. At first I thought that coulnt be it because i was told when cps fail they fail for good, unlike my situation fail, good,fail.good etc. Thanks.

CPS Sensor. My first couple that went bad ascted like yours.

when mine started to go it would stutter from a stop, or just cough unexpectedly when i got on it.......then it quit....i was just getting up speed to go thru a light in the straight thru lane....luckily no one in the right turn, got her over near the sidewalk and that was it , no restart...and of course it was snowing and well below freezing. don't foget to put some clean oil on the o ring just before you shove the new one in.:thumbsup:

Just put my new cps in this morning, Hopefully it fixes the problem. On my way to work before installing new cps truck did skip once but stayed running.
