I have a 1999 SD and every once and a while the gauges will die and I have no acceleration - but the engine is idling fine.

I have checked the fuses, relays and such and the gauges and acceleration seem to come back.

This was all very intermittant.

Now I can not get the gauges and acceleration back. Starts fine and idles but no gauges and acceleration

any help would be appreciated

ignition switch? How did you TS it down to that? Just curious,, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif NOT questioning that it fixed it.
Chadrick,, Have you done anything to the truck before this started? For example installed aftermarket lights/gauges/ ect...? I would wiggle wires coming from the steering column. Also maybe wiggle the ignition key..tap on the column near it? Since the other poster is pointing in that direction. Has it been raining alot where you live? There seems to be a relatively common problem of water getting in and going down onto the PCM ,, maybe if it gets wet,,it messes up intermitantly?
Just another idea..I am sure someone with much more experience will chime in soon too!
Good luck and when you find the problem,,post what ya found ok?
OH ,, and WELCOME TO TDS! You will love this sight!

Could not find the part number but here is a place to purchase from that is usually quite a bit cheaper than the dealer.

Poke here.

Hope this helps,

The electrical part of the ignition switch is actually under the instrument panel just to the left of the steering column. The electrical connector has some sort of "shield" over it. Maybe that's Ford's attempt at preventing hot-wiring.

You don't have to mess with the spot where you put the key to change out the ignition switch.

Yep, there's a pushrod of sorts connecting the key lock cylinder with the switch proper down the steering column. Not sure how it works with a tilt wheel, though. Haven't thought about that one too hard.
