Pressure release during heavy load

My 03 6.0 barks and puffs huge amount of black smoke when under heavy load. Just started doing it is this just a release of pressure build up or what is the deal? I am lost on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to check all turbo to intercooler to intake hoses and the intercooler itself.
Laks at any of these places will allow air to be used for combustion to escape with noise and the fuel to be burned with this air will be delivered and extra smoke results. Extra fuel w/o the extra air makes the black smoke.
Could be other sthings but that is a likely cause from your description.
