I am getting a propane injection for my 95 powerstroke and was wondering if i could just use a regular propane tank for it? The ones i have seen that you can buy are huge and pretty expensive. Can i just use a grill propane tank or larger one? Thanks!!!

You can get by with them. But from my understanding is the "expensive" one have a shut off switch (which would be nice if you ever got into an accident) If you wanna go cheap at first before moving to a bigger safer tank try the one they sell for travel trailers. They have the safety lock out that our propane grills don't.

what kind of safety lock out do they have. i've never heard of such a thing, and i've seen a tank or two. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

as far as if ya can use a bar-b-que tank that'll depend on if your system is a vapor system, or a liquid system. if it's vapor then ya can use a grill tank. if it's liquid you will need a "motor fuel" tank. if ya don't wanta get one of the big tanks yet, just get a tow-motor tank. stop at yer local propane supplier and ask if they have any used one's they would like to sell. alot cheaper than buying a new one. expecially if you plan on upgrading to a larger than in the future.

Well it is the bully dog injection system and the tank the guy used for it was just a forklift tank.

then you will need the motor fuel tank probably

does anyone know which propane kit is better? the Bullydog kit or the Superchips kit? I'm debating both of them because I heard of how propane can help mpg. What are the major downsides to propane other than higher egt's? Anyone got any info?

precombustion, higher cylinder pressures and the possiblily to blow up your engine. propane is a fuel. When its used in a compression ignition engine (engines that use compression to ignite fuel as opposed to spark plugs) it can start to burn before its supposed to. Diesel fuel isn't injected until the precise time for combustion to bigin. when propane is added to the intake air there is always fuel (propane) present. most systems out there are safe but don't get greedy and want to up the amount of propane being injected. But there is alway a risk involved.

I ran the Powershot2000 System in my truck for a couple of years with no ill effects. I did alot of towing with it, and found you just have to set your system to come on at a specific boost pressure, so that the desired added HP comes on just when you need it!
The Powershot2000 worked great for alot of folks on this site a few years back, and was one of the better setups out there at the time. It of course is for a vapor type system, and I personally ran two 20lb bottles that where secured in the bed of the truck.
Be careful on how much you use, and you should be fine.

So i'm guessing the Bullydog and Superchips kits are also vapor kits? What are the major differences from a vapor kit and i guess a liquid kit? Anyone know anything about the Bullydog or Superchips kits?
