This is for anyone who has used Propane or is using Propane. I have heard alot about pleople wanting to use Propane to gain MPG's and HP. Is this true? I do not see how gaining HP can also gain MPG's. Can you get better MPG's using Propane? If so how much and is it worth the cost of a system?

It will give you about 60hp and increase MPG 1-2mpg. The flow through block is a great cooling benefit after long periods of use. LOL........

What that meant is propane has been believed to be the cause of a few blocks to cracks!

No, it is not worth the cost of the system.

I have it on mine. I've had it on my truck for well over 100,000 miles and I don't baby my truck one bit. I also always use the propane. I got a DPTuner some time ago, at least 75,000 ago. With the 80tow and propane I love the truck. As for mileage, I've not been able to keep my foot out of it to see any mileage gains. The other thing some people forget to account for, is the cost of the propane.

I sold my Bullydog 80 hp kit on Ebay 2 weeks ago. I have been told that propane is not good for higher output engines. After my DP Tunes I felt I didn't need the LP. LP gave me 2 more MPG's with SCT 1705 tuner. The mileage increase is due to the LP catalyzing with the diesel fuel for a more complete burn.

propane is kinda like nitros a little is good a lot is bad..with a bang.

the one interesting report i read said that it makes the milage better by burning all or 99% of the fuel, where a normal diesel burns say 80%...what they noted is the other 20% could be lubrication of rings and valves and propane might cause loss of lubrication....

now the post above with 100k seems to lead me to think otherwise... but as stated propane has to be cheap to make it benificial. especially when you have a 600 system + a tank.
so it has to be 1/2 of diesel price to be getting anywhere $$ wise. dec 07 issue of diesel world had some info on it..but not near as much as i wanted.

The MPG gain if any is offset by that fact you still have to buy the propane. it is not like you are saving any $$$. All propane does is increase the cylinder pressures to the point it might crack pistons (I have seen this first hand) and gives you the false impression of getting higher MPG. Invest the money elsewhere.

Thanks for the info.
