Propane Tanks under deep toolbox?

Looking to bite the bullet on a deep toolbox instead of a shallow one (8.5 inches of storage below the rails vs 14.5 inches.. just couldn't pass up the extra space)

Was wondering if anyone makes a flat propane tank that will fit between the storage box and the bed? There's about 3" between the box and the bed... and the entire width across of the bed. Just wondering if such a tank exists... or if one can be made for a reasonable price.

Thank you,

Mike

Any type of gas storage device needs to be round. Only way to hold back the PSI in there.

You might try Worthington Industries.

Here are a few concerns:

Propane storage needs to tolerate about 500 lb/sq.inch

You need to provide some method of preventing overfilling. With a tall tank standing up, it's easy. With a short tank on its side in a vhehicle that may or may not be level, that's going to be a lot harder.

Propane vapor is heavier than air and potentially explosive. You need to provide some ventilation below propane tanks and lines to prevent vapor accumulation.

I don't think this is practical but you might consider a row of small-diameter tanks, interconnected with a manifold.
