Was wondering what the differences (if any) between the two are. Take for granted this would be all-out competetion. And I'm talking about engine related only, not tranny, suspension, etc...

Wouldn't spool up be an issue?
Seems to me that in pulling configurations a lot of guys, especially CTD, use a massive single and hold it down for two weeks before the turbo lights. In a drag application wouldn't this be unacceptable?

I would think large single turbo for pulling, twins for drag. Although pullers use twins too. Hmmm....

Damn Le'mo (said in best French voice) you trying to get David and Bunting back into another cat fight. Couple months ago them two was tying each other into knots over this same topic. I think one you drag a trailer, and the other trailer is optional /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Nah, lol. I think they were arguing over what was harder on an engine. I'm just wondering if there's any difference in the actual set-up of the engine.

A drag racing motor is desighned to start at teh bottom (stop lower rpm) and build or increase power forward. (in other words you want a broad power curve from down low to up high)

a pulling motor does not care about bottom end. You leave the line at or near the upper rpm's (espically on a manual tranny) You quickly reach max rpm's and hold thier and let the sled drag you back into the power curve. And hope you have run out of traction before you get below the power curve. This is why sled pullers run alot bigger charger then the street/drag guys.

My only consideration would be rotating assy weight, for a drag motor you want to be able to build rpm quickly and accelerate. Pullers leave the line and are at max rpm the whole time, so the added inertia of a heavier rotating assy or flywheel will benefit them by giving them a little more distance before the sled can slow them down...think of the big farm tractors and their huge flywheels - that is for inertia.

Also durability over power to a certain extent - Wider seat widths to displace those high egt's on pull motors, narrower seat widths make more power but do not transfer heat from the valve to the seat as well.
