I just had 4 tires mounted by a tire shop after which my brake light started pulsing on /off (besides this they screwed up one of the rims).

Is it just a coincidence? The master cyl reservoir level is fine. I topped it off anyway and it made no difference. I hate it when I bring a vehicle in for something simple and end up with more problems.

Check the park brake, it may be just closing the circuit and operating the brake light.

Good call. That was it. I cycled the parking brakes, which is not working very well, and it cleared up.
