bought my 02 7.3 new, never done it before, vacationing in south dakota and put the green handle in the tank , took 24 gallons of gas in it, drove it 2 blocks to campground , started runing like crap, shut it down right away, was changing the fuel filter then found out, gonna have a ford dealer here have it towed to their shop, anybody know what they might charge me? we are out of town with our rv in a koa campground in sioux falls.thanks, hope i didnt screw it up too bad.

My brother did this once on his dually 6.0 PSD put in 15 gals in the rear tank and 10 gals in the front drove it to the shop I worked at. I drained the gas out put in 5 gals of D2 and all was good. That was 5 or so years ago, no harm to the truck runs fine today. I would think a 7.3 could take it as long as you did not drive too far. Drain it and fill with D2. Let us know how it turns out.

Get the tank drained, cycle the key a few times and leave the drain valve on the fuel filter housing open and and that should flush the lines. once you're comfortable that its pure diesel coming out, shut it, change the fuel filter again and run a heavy concentration of 2 cycle motor oil in the tank. maybe like a full tank of diesel and 2-3 qts of 2 cycle...

should run ok after that.

it took the dealer around 4 hours to do the job, drained the tank, new fuel filter, 450 bucks later, wish it happend around home instead of 2000 miles away, back on the road tomm. morn. for the bad lands. this south dakota is nice, no traffic at all like seattle, hope no more troubles, this one was my fault, too many hours driving, taking my time going home, only 5 hour driving.
