Finally put my beast to work, real work. Mrs Firstrattler wanted dirt for her garden so I got a cord of dirt. Very happy with the extra capacity weight package, sat on the ground evenly and no " extra" power steering. Can't say that for the vehicle next to me built in america but with corporate headquarters overseas, the vast Pacific ocean.

oooops- yard of dirt, wet dirt

Done that many times with wood chips, dirt, gravel, and rock dust. One memorable load of gravel weighed in at 4500#; I won't be doing that much again. The truck handled it fine, but it was squatting a bit. Wood chips and dirt usually weigh in ~3000# and that just puts it on the overloads. At the county composter you buy a "yard" of either and they fill the bed; for me that's almost three yards. Rock dust is sold by the ton and it gets heavy FAST. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif I've been to more than one materials supply store that won't sell you rock dust if you have a half-ton pickup (or less).
