Folks,

I thought I knew what I was doing. I replaced the top fuel filter and had a friend replace the bottom one. He put the bottom one in wrong and they are tell me that I put the top one in wrong (I only saw one way to put it in.) So, they are replace them and running checks and now they are saying that they are getting error codes from two of the injectors. So, tomorrow morning, they will check the injector errors again.

Have I royally screwed up or is Ford just taking me for a ride?

Maybe a little of both.

The hardest thing about the fuel filters is making sure the orings don't get crimped, pinched or cut. If that happens, then it will leak air, and cause some problems w/ fuel delivery.

If you have an injector problem, its most likely not caused by a bad filter change. You say its a 2004 X, so it should have the C-95 injectors. Is it possible you have used an additive w/ alcohol in it?

Part of your post alludes to a WIF light. Is that what caused you to change the filters? If so, too much water may have caused injector problems. Bad fuel?
