How much weight should I be towing in order to use tow/haul mode? I figure I would use it to tow my boat (6000 lbs) but do I need it to tow my Seadoos? Two of them with a trailer weigh about 1500 lbs.

I wouldn't use it for sea doos.
I don't even use it for my boat, around 4000lbs, unless I am in the hills, then I use it for braking and to hold a gear longer.

Any time your tranny starts searching for the correct gear.

I agree with this and if it searches more than a couple of times I put it in tow/haul mode. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

My boat's about 7500# and I don't use it except for braking sometimes.

I say never, but every now and then it'll come in handy if I'm in a situation where I changing driving conditions a lot, like real slow up and down big hills (around some lakes) and curves. It helps to use for the downhill side.

It's not like the old OD days of use it when it's not staying in and is hunting. You'll likely be lugging too much and need to use it instead.

I have a 7000 lbs trailer and I use it all the time I tow. One thing I noticed the last time I towed was the tranny temp was 175 degrees to my destination. On the way home I was over 190. I thought something was wrong. Then I noticed it was not in Tow/Haul. I turned it on and the temp came back down.
